North End Engagement Photos

Is anything more quintessential to the North End than a sip of espresso and a delicious cannoli? So of course when Diana & Sean opted for the North End as the location of their engagement session it just HAD to include a little of both - and for Diana who is professor of Italian, you couldn’t pick a more perfect location than Caffe Victoria in the North End!

I hope you’ll take a moment to relive Gianna and Kevin’s beautiful fall wedding at the Boston Harbor Hotel.

Cherry Blossom Engagement Session in Boston

On a beautiful spring morning YQ & John met me on the Boston Esplanade just as the sun was peaking above the horizon. Amongst the glorious cherry blossoms we enjoyed the nearly vacant park near the river. We visited the site of their epic first date and talked about their plans for the wedding day. It was such fun to enjoy the sunrise together and I couldn't help but smile watching these two together. They have a quiet kind of love that is sweet, simple and perfect. I can't wait to celebrate with then in November!! Until the enjoy a few favorites from their engagement session!!

Wintry Boston Engagement Session in Copley Square

On an early January morning I met Alyssa & Younes in Copley Square for their engagement session. Since they live abroad, we had a small window of time when they would be visiting the states -- we crossed our fingers for a sunny day and we were met with a beautiful and seasonally *warm* weather.

Alyssa and Younes were a delight -- it was so much fun having the opportunity to get to know them both and witness the beautiful friendship they share together. Alyssa and Younes will wed in July in the Copley Square area so we had a wonderful time exploring this quintessential part of town. Enjoy some of my favorites from their lovely Copley Square engagement session!!

The Best of 2016 : Portraits

Yesterday I kicked off the Best of 2016 series with my favorite floral designs of the year. Today I'm continuing the series with my favorite portrait images of 2016!! My portrait work has slowly evolved over the years as past clients have begun to grow their families and celebrate anniversaries. What started as something I did on the side of weddings, has developed into an integral part of my business.

Having the opportunity to be invited into the homes and lives of my clients to capture the big and small moments of life is an incredible honor and I deeply value the relationships that have been cultivated as a result. My portrait work has become something incredibly meaningful to me and I hope it has brought great joy to the clients who have trusted me to capture their lives.

Enjoy some of my favorite portrait images of 2016!!

At Home Family Session in Boston's South End

Diana and Ankur welcomed their darling baby girl Olivia into the world earlier this year. Being the Holidays and the start of a new year just around the corner, they wanted to celebrate their family of three with a portrait session in their home.

On a chilly December afternoon we snuggled up in Olivia's nursery, a beautiful ode to all things pink, grey and cream. Olivia bounced in her crib, snuggled in her father's arms and giggled at the silly sounds Mom would make to get her to smile. It was lovely time and I feel so thankful to have had the opportunity to meet and photograph this beautiful family.

At home sessions are some of my favorite to photograph. Clean, bring space where my clients can feel comfortable and relaxed. They are a mix of lifestyle and posed portraiture. But most important they focus on the deep connection my clients have to each other. And when I can capture that on my camera -- well that's the good stuff.

Thank you Diana & Ankur for welcoming me to your home!! Gosh those baby cheeks, they are the best!! Enjoy some of my favorite images!!

Rainy Boston College Engagement Session

Alli & Brendan met while studying at Boston College -- and while their studies and careers have taken the couple to different parts of the country, Boston College continues to be a special place for them. On a misty and early fall morning, we met on campus and explored this beautiful place.

As the rest of campus began preparing for an Eagles football game, Alli & Brendan reminisced. Remembering fondly how they met, the classes they took and where it all began. In between bursts of rain, we took advantage of the beautiful architecture, finding archways and nooks to sneak away to.

Alli & Brendan will celebrate the next chapter of their love story this spring in Newport. Until then they'll continue to pursue their dream careers and plan for their future. For a brief moment this fall their busy worlds aligned. Rain and all, Alli & Brendan were reminded of all that they are working towards : a life spent together.

Enjoy some of my favorite images from their day!!

The State Room Wedding | Phoebe & Kevin

As the sun set over the city, Phoebe and Kevin were married in a heartfelt and intimate ceremony at the State Room overlooking the city skyline & Boston Harbor. Surrounded by their closest family and friends they committed their lives to one another, read their own vows and giggled together as their officiant recounted stories of their relationship. With the ring warming, a tradition where the wedding rings are passed to each guest, it felt like everyone has a small part in the beginning of their new chapter together.

Phoebe and Kevin's day was an elegant affair, encompassing everything they loved about the city. Getting ready down town, having their first look at Post Office Square and then hosting their ceremony and reception overlooking the city's skyline, Boston played a central part in their wedding day -- the perfect setting for this couple who met here in Boston.

Phoebe & Kevin, thank you for inviting us to be a part of your day. We were honored to be there to photograph this next chapter of your life together!! Enjoy some of my favorite images!!

Public Garden Anniversary Session

Veronica and James traveled to Boston to celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary last week. Hailing from the West Coast they had never visited Boston before and both were so excited to experience this charming and historic city for themselves (kid free :)). Having just celebrated my own 10 year anniversary with an epic trip abroad, I knew just how special this vacation was and what it meant to this sweet couple.

10 years. A decade of memories and experiences, a foundation and history of life shared together. I was delighted when Veronica shared that they wished to celebrate these past 10 years with an anniversary during their trip to Boston. Time intentionally spent honoring the life that they have built together and celebrating all that is to come. This was time just for them and I was honored to be there to photograph it.

Veronica and James wanted their session to feel romantic but also to capture some of the Boston charm that they fell in love with during their trip. We picked the Boston Public Garden and Beacon Hill, the perfect combination of city charm and historic character. I hope you'll enjoy some of my favorite images of this darling 10 year anniversary session!!

Fairmont Copley Plaza Wedding | Colleen & Carl

Colleen and Carl have been on quite the journey this past year or so, not entirely sure they would see their wedding day come to fruition. With major health set backs for Carl, Colleen and Carl ended up postponing their scheduled wedding day last year, unsure if or when they would reschedule. But over a year later with Carl in good health, they tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony this past weekend at Boston's historic Old South Church.

It was a day filled with joy and gratitude. Carl, Colleen and their guests knew just how lucky they were to be witnessing the union of this deserving couple - it made the day sweet, savored. Being around such happiness with such appreciate for the wedding day, was a joy and honor to photograph.

Carl & Colleen chose the beautiful and elegant Fairmont Copley Plaza for their reception. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the hotel and staff who ensured that Carl & Colleen's wedding day went off without a hitch. The night was spent enjoying delicious food, catching up with loved ones and dancing- oh so much dancing!! To see this sweet couple tearing up the dance floor was a sight to behold and one everyone in the room was grateful to see!! I mean who doesn't love a rollicking rendition of Wild Rover? This redhead was in pure wedding/Irish drinking song/happy heaven!!

Please enjoy some of my favorites of this precious day at the Fairmont Copley Plaza!!

Boston Public Garden Engagement Session

I just love these two brave souls who got up before the sun for their early morning engagement session in the Public Gardens. Living in the Boston area they wanted their engagement session to be a reflection of quintessential Boston. But anyone who knows Boston knows that this part of town is filled with tourists and locals alike later into the day. So how do you go about making the Public Gardens look empty? Begin your session at 6am ;).

I love Erica & Mark's go with the flow attitude -- they are a confident couple who are comfortable in their own skin and have a deep connection to each other. Best friends. What a joy to photograph!!

Later this year they will be tying the knot in a quintessential Bostonian wedding at the Fairmont Copley Plaza (sensing a theme here?) I cannot wait to photograph this sweet couple again in a place that is near and dear to their hearts!!

An Engagement Session at MIT, Cambridge

Grace & Sam are both graduate students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. They met in school and campus has become an incredibly important and sentimental place in their relationship. Of course it had to become a part of their engagement session so we spent an afternoon together wandering the city campus and exploring it's historic buildings. In fact, MIT had just celebrated their 100th anniversary of their Cambridge campus before the session - historic indeed!

Grace is an aero student (which I love as my own hubby Dave graduated from the MIT aero program) and Sam is a mathematician. Together these two make one incredibly smart couple! But beyond their skill in academics Grace and Sam are kind and generous, a couple who is dearly loved by their friends. As we walked the MIT campus for their engagement session, Grace and Sam were stopped numerous times with congratulatory hugs and excitement!!

Grace and Sam are doing things a little differently than most couples. While their engagement will have only been a few months when they tie the knot this June, it's clear that Grace and Sam are meant to be. From the way that Sam cares for Grace to the way Grace melts into Sam's arm -- Sam and Grace are the real deal.

Thank you Grace and Sam for showing me around campus, enjoy your images!!

Copley Square and South End Buttery Engagement Session

copley square engagement session deborah zoe photography boston wedding photographer winter engagement session 0031.JPG

We are in a never ending winter here in the Northeast, or at least that's what it feels like. Yesterday we were slammed AGAIN with a batch of snow making our total count, well, A LOT. But despite my hatred for the cold and those pesky white flakes, I have to admit that there is a beautiful charm to Boston after some freshly fallen snow. We lucked out with just that, an abundance of winter charm in the city for Emma and Paul's engagement session this past weekend. Following another storm, the city was dusted in a blanket of white.

Emma and Paul live and work in and around the city. It's also where Paul proposed (in a candle lit suite at the Fairmont!) Fittingly, Emma wanted to revisit some of the spots around town that are meaningful to the two of them. We spent the afternoon exploring the city while Paul and Emma did their best to stay warm with lots of snuggles and laughs!

We started our time together at the Boston Public Library, one of Emma's favorite spots in the city. We meandered around Copley Square and tried our best to stay warm!! It was COLD on Sunday, so we popped in to one of Emma and Paul's favorite spots, the South End Buttery for some coffee and treats.

Emma and Paul, I had a great afternoon with you as we wandered the streets of Boston visiting some of your favorite places. I can't wait to celebrate with you this spring -- Enjoy your images!

Go WildCats

Dave married the exact girl that he shouldn't. I'm a Democrat, he's a Republican. I'm from Massachusetts, he's from New Hampshire. I'm a Husky and he's, we'll he's a hard core Wildcat. A hardcore University of New Hampshire hockey fan for those who don't know what a Wildcat is, like me. So, the statement is true, opposites attract:)! When Dave and I first started dating he was super excited because I went to Northeastern and that meant he'd be able to see his undergrad UNH Wildcats play the Huskies. Being a GIRL and not all that into hockey, I begrudgingly argreed to buy him some tickets and take him to a game. We sat together, but if you've ever been to a Northeastern hockey game, you know how dangerous it can be to route for the other team while in the Dog House! It only egged Dave on and after that game I refused to sit with him if UNH ever played Northeastern!

Dave loves his Wildcats and has a huge lovemark for his undergrad. On Saturday Dave and I along with his sister and her hubby got to watch the Wildcats against their rivals, the Maine Black Bears, at Fenway Park!! It was really cool to be at Fenway watching a hockey game! And because they were playing UMaine, I thought I'd route along for UNH. What I forgot about was just how much SPIRIT Dave has for his team. All of a sudden my sweet, mild tempered husband was spewing forth insults and an occasional naughty word at the opposing team! Who was this person?! Where did my husband go?! I buried my head inside my jacket, occasionally giggling at Dave's choice use of words ;)

All this to be said, on Saturday my husband was one excited guy and it made my heart glad to see him so happy. He loves sports, he loves UNH, he loves Fenway, he loves beer, he loves embarrassing me, he loves the cold and he loves Boston. It was wonderful being able to see him enjoy all the things that he loves, all while being able to spend time with his sister and her hubby Tom!

"A happy husband makes for a happy wife" -- Ain't that the truth!
