Good Harbor Beach Engagement Session | Hayley & James

I not so secretly love sunrise engagement sessions - there is just something magical about watching the sun rise above the horizon as soft, golden light blankets the earth. The air is quiet, the world is still, in short it is a peaceful way to start the day!! I was delighted that Hayley & James loved the idea of a sunrise session for their beach engagement. So on a warm summer morning we met at Good Harbor and enjoyed exploring the near empty beach together.

Crane Beach Engagement Session

Laney & Austin love being near the water, it’s their happy place. When it came to planning their engagement session we knew that it had to be a location on the water. One of my favorite places, both personally and as a photographer, is Crane Beach in Ipswich - a beautiful beach made of soft white sand and gorgeous green dunes. The stunning locale spoke to their ocean loving hearts and was the perfect backdrop of their summer engagement. Enjoy some of my favorites!!

Beacon Hill Engagement Session

Engaged on the Charles River, Abby & Joe wanted their engagement session to reflect the city that they love and joy they share together. On a beautiful early summer morning we visited some of their favorite spots around downtown, laughed together and enjoyed the near empty city streets. Sunrise sessions are some of my faves, there’s just something unique about experiencing the beginning of the day together and capturing the first light of the day with my couples!! And who could beat the smiles of these two? What a joy to capture their love, enjoy some of my favorites!!

Coastal New England Engagement Session

On a foggy spring afternoon I met A & E at Falmouth Light on Cape Cod. The wind came in off the water as boats sounded their horns in the distance. For most couples this kind of weather might not have been ideal, but for A & E it was the perfect setting for their Cape Cod engagement session. The Cape holds a special place in their hearts, so much so that they decided to host their wedding here later this fall. It was so lovely to share in this beautiful place with A & E and to experience all the Cape has to offer, fog and all!! Enjoy a few of my favorite images!!

Cherry Blossom Engagement Session in Boston

On a beautiful spring morning YQ & John met me on the Boston Esplanade just as the sun was peaking above the horizon. Amongst the glorious cherry blossoms we enjoyed the nearly vacant park near the river. We visited the site of their epic first date and talked about their plans for the wedding day. The Best of Engagements 2017

Yesterday I kicked off the Best of 2017 series with some of my favorite portrait work of the last year and today I'm sharing my favorite engagement images!! Looking back I was reminded of how amazing each of my DZP Couples are. I love the time we get to spend with each other before the wedding and the opportunity I have to get to know these wonderful people!!

I kicked things off in January for a cold and blustery session in Boston. Throughout the year my couples headed to the beach, estates, the city, even their homes, each session tailored to their unique relationship. Just as my portrait sessions, I made the goal to incorporate film and I loved the results!! Each session was as unique as the couple I was photographing and made for a beautiful year of images -- enjoy a few of my favorites!!

Kaitlyn and Doug love being by the water -- a couple after my own heart!! She knew that she wanted her engagement session to have a romantic beachy vibe and gave me the opportunity to suggest a location. Of course I knew the perfect place, our favorite beach, Crane Beach in Ipswich!!

On an unseasonably warm (theme of the fall!) September evening we enjoyed a beautifully quiet session together on the beach. Coastal New England Engagement Session

When I asked Josselyn & Matthew if they had any ideas of where they might like their engagement session, immediately the first place that came to their minds was their historic New England home. Filled with charm and gorgeous gardens surrounding the house, it was the perfect backdrop for this sweet couple. Josselyn also wanted to visit the beach, just minutes from their house, incorporating their love for the ocean. It was a joy to photograph this couple at their home, a place where they feel comfortable and themselves. I loved all the nooks we had to explore and their beautifully wood and private lot. These two will be tying the knot in just a few short weeks -- until then enjoy some of my favorite images from their session!!

Farm Engagement Session on Boston's North Shore

I first met Jared & Willoughby at Willoughby's family home, a sprawling working farm on Boston's North Shore. They will be getting married at this beautiful place later this summer and it was important to them for me to experience it for myself. I absolutely love how personal this place is to the couple, especially Willoughby, and how they are thoughtfully planning their wedding day to reflect their personal connection to the farm along with its beautiful natural backdrop.

When it came time for their engagement session it made sense to explore the farm. We meandered through the tall tree groves and winding stone wall lined drives on a glorious summer evening. Just spending a few minutes here its easy to understand why Willoughby and Jared feel such a connection to this place.

Jared and Willoughby thank you for inviting me to this place, a place that means so much to you. I can't wait for August!! Enjoy some of my favorites from their session!!

Engagement Session at Greenwood Farm, Ipswich

As we walked Greenwood Farm in Ipswich, both Jenny and exclaimed that it felt like were walking onto the set of Anne of Green Gables. And by pure chance I edited their images watching the new Netflix version, Anne with an E - and I have to say it really did feel as though we were in Avonlea!

Jenny and Bradley are both dancers and my hope was that their engagement session felt fresh, light and hinted at their creative and artistic backgrounds. (Plus add in some romance too ;)) We spent an amazing evening exploring Greenwood Farm, a place filled with rustic charm and natural beauty. It truly felt magical.

Bradley & Jenny, I cannot wait to celebrate with you this weekend as you say "I Do!" Enjoy some of my favorites from their engagement!!

Woodland Engagement Session on Boston's North Shore

Tish and Obie love the great outdoors (Obie is from Alaska afterall :)) and so they wanted their engagement session to fit that woodland vibe that they feel so comfortable in. After chatting with them about their session, I knew the perfect place!! Hidden away near my home is an area that is almost magical, filled with tall pine trees and the quiet that only the woods can bring.

I absolutely LOVED hanging out with these two who spent our entire time together laughing. I don't think that vibrant smile ever left Tish's face. Being around that kind of love is infectious and joyful and all the amazing adjectives you can think of to describe it. Certainly made me incredibly excited for their wedding later this year!! Enjoy several of my favorite images!!

Crane Estate Engagement Session

On a overcast spring afternoon I met with Maggie and Jack at the beautiful Crane Estate for their engagement session. Maggie and Jack will be getting married next year at an estate in Ipswich and so they wanted their engagement session to reflect the the history and beachy feel of this seaside town. The Crane Estate is sprawling with tremendous views in almost every direction. It was a treat to explore the beautiful property with Maggie and Jack and admire the lovely architectural details and beauty of this place.

Just down the street is one of my favorite places, Crane Beach. After a quick outfit change we headed to the beach for a more relaxed vibe. Snuggled up in sweaters, Maggie and Jack enjoyed the nearly empty beach and bravely dipped their toes in the chilly Atlantic waters!! The overcast skies, empty beach and these two made for a romantic ending to a beautiful session!!
