If there is one thing about New England that is predictable, is that weather in New England is completely unpredictable. Sunny one moment, rainy the next. And that's exactly what Mother Nature gave us on Genna & Max's wedding day. Off and on rain, mist and some incredibly beautiful fog. But despite the up and down of the weather, Genna and Max remained steady - both grounded in the happiness they shared to finally be at this moment together, their wedding day.
Married on Cape Cod, where they spend much time together as a couple and with family, Genna & Max were delighted to share this special place with their loved ones. They filled their day with nautical and classic details, a perfect compliment for their coastal New England celebration!! Enjoy some of my absolutely favorites from the day!! Read More
I can't believe I never shared the amazing day that was Callie & Jimmy's wedding!! I had been looking to this day all year and it's hard to believe it's come and gone!! What a day they had, filled with the perfect preppy & nautical details, a glorious fall day and surrounded by their closest family friends. I had the privilege of working with the amazing Keri of Always Yours Events, who styled and planned the day to perfection!! Callie was stunning her Theia gown while Jimmy looked dapper in his classic black tie suit. I loved everything about this day and I'm so excited to share some of my favorites from their day with you!!

In today's post, the second the DZP Planning series, we're talking all about the First Look. What is a First Look? Is right for your wedding day? How do you plan for a First Look? I'll be answering those questions and more -- let's get started.
The First Look is a period of the day where the Bride & Groom see each other for the first time before the ceremony. This is an intentional period of time set aside just for the couple. Often this is the first and last time you’ll be alone together on an otherwise very busy day. It’s an opportunity for you to express all this day means to you in a safe and private atmosphere.
With the hustle and bustle of the wedding day underway, the Ceremony does not provide much room to share heartfelt emotions. Often, the Groom may be standing in front of the aisle with all eyes on him watching for his reaction. That’s a lot of pressure and can often lead to a nervous face and stiff body language; not exactly the emotional response a Bride may have envisioned. Couples typically feel more at ease to share their feelings together for the first time alone rather than in front of all of their guests; a First Look provides the room and space to do just that. Kerin & Ryan picked Newport for their wedding location, almost on a whim. Both had never spent too much time in this quaint coastal town but after a visit they knew that it was the perfect place to host their wedding. A local destination of sorts, Newport provided the perfect place for their friends and family to escape to without much traveling. And with cooler temperatures and small crowds, the weekend event was the perfect way to experience Newport in a leisurely and relaxed pace.
Kerin & Ryan started the day in downtown Newport, both getting ready in separate houses right on Thames Street. Kerin's house even had a top floor roof deck that overlooked downtown and Newport Harbor! Following a lovely and intimate ceremony, they headed to the magnificent Elms Mansion for wedding portraits with their wedding party & family. Finally they headed back to Regatta Place, located right in Newport Harbor, for a night of dancing and celebrating. Their day was a great mix of everything wonderful about Newport - the history and coastal charm were the perfect compliment for Kerin & Ryan's day.
What a joy it was to celebrate with Kerin & Ryan's families who were all so excited to be together to watch as they became Husband & Wife. Kerin's Mom was a ray of sunshine the morning of the wedding while her Dad offered up cheers on the trolley and made sure that everyone had a full glass of rose to toast to the couple. Ryan's Dad joked that they were old pros during the family formals and his Mom snuggled in close, happy to see her son marrying the woman of his dreams.
As a wedding photographer, I'm granted special license into these private moments that families share together on the wedding day. It is a joy and honor to be there to document them for my couples and the people that they love. Kerin & Ryan, thank you for inviting us to be a part of your day, enjoy some of my favorite images!! When it came time for Lauren and Marshall to plan their wedding, they knew that it had to be near the water. Marshall sailed in college and Lauren affectionately calls it his "other love." The Duxbury Maritime School was the perfect setting for the wedding day, boasting beautiful views of Duxbury Bay and a skyline dotted with sailboats. The perfect mix of casual elegance and nautical charm.
Lauren and Marshall filled their wedding with lovely pink and navy details, beautifully executed throughout the day from the navy bridesmaid dresses to the soft pastel palette of the reception. But for Lauren and Marshall, the details were only a small part of the wedding.
What was most important to them were people. Lauren has one of those smiles that lights up a room -- her energy is simply infectious. As the couple greeted their guests following the ceremony, Lauren met everyone with her famous smile and a warmth you could feel a mile away -- they knew how lucky they were to have the people they loved most in the world, there with them to celebrate their wedding. And it was a joy to photograph.
Thank you Lauren & Marshall for inviting us to be a part of your beautiful day, enjoy some of our favorites!! Read More
