Lake Winnipesaukee Engagement Session

Category

When we began to plan their engagement session Sarah & Greg shared that Boston would be a great location, it’s where they met and where they are starting their life together. But there was an even more special place, one that they didn’t immediately share with me, which held their hearts. When I learned that Greg’s family home on Lake Winnipesaukee is where they spend most of their free time, where they escape to just breath – I knew that was where we had to have their engagement session.

On a COLD and RAINY April morning I drove up into the mountains and met Greg and Sarah who were ending a long weekend away on the lake. There was a quietness, a peaceful energy to their private oasis and it was magical. If you know anything about Lake Winnipesuakee, you know that it is a huge travel destination for locals and travelers alike. All through out the year the lake is filled with boaters and people enjoying the beauty the region has to offer. But not on this day. This day the lake was still, almost as if it was waiting for Sarah & Greg.

Despite the cold and the rain, Sarah and Greg would not be deterred. They set up a fire and cuddled in blankets. They sat on the dock and dipped their does in the water — they even took a plunge into the icy lake!! The family home, a place where they felt at home, was the perfect place to celebrate their engagement. Everything felt nostalgic and meaningful. Even the diamond in Sarah’s engagement ring is a family heirloom that has been passed down through generations.

Sarah & Greg, thank you for inviting me up to such a special place. To be surrounded by the trees, the peaceful stillness of the lake, to know how much this place means to you and to your families, made this session incredibly special. Thank you for trusting me with something so dear and for being daring souls jumping into that water!! Here’s to you!!
