I just signed up for this years Boston Athletic Associations 5k. This race is put on by the same people that run the famous Boston Marathon and because of that, the race starts and ends on the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Being the ubber dork and tourist that I am, and despite the fact that I've lived in Massachusetts my whole life and despite the fact that I used to walk near the finish line almost every day while going to school, I STILL got excited as I ran over that line last year. In fact I made Dave take my picture, because what self respecting tourist doesn't take pictures at every landmark they can find?
One of my 2011 goals is to run more. I've already started to look into my running schedule for the year, picking out some local races. My dream is to one day travel another state to run a race, possibly a 10k or a 1/2 marathon. We'll see what the future holds, but for now I'm content with local 5k's and 10k's. So for you runners out there, I invite you to join with me as I run with 5,000 of my closest friends this Patriots Day weekend. What better way to kick off Spring than with a road race?!
