Rob and Rachel just celebrated their one year anniversary yesterday. And as what seems to be a common theme amongst 2012 couples, their first year of marriage was BUSY and FILLED. But isn't that the way life goes, always one thing after the next. I guess that's what makes life an adventure and what better way to share all the things life has to offer than with your best friend!! I recently caught up with Rob and Rachel at a wedding this summer and I was so excited to hear about all the things they took on this past year, including buying their first home!! So grab your favorite drink and sit back with me as I chat with Rob and Rachel about all this past year has taught them!!D -- Happy anniversary! I simply cannot believe that it has been a year since your wedding!! Has time flown by for you too?
R&R -- It certainly has. It seems like just yesterday we were planning the wedding and now we can look at all the beautiful pictures and it brings us back to that day. We are enjoying every moment of being married and looking forward to what the future will bring.D -- What is your favorite memory from your wedding day?
Rachel -- There are SO many wonderful moments to choose from! I guess I'd have to say the First Look. I was extremely nervous about the day going well (must be the event planner in me!) but as soon as I saw Rob, I just relaxed. I was so happy that we chose to see each other and relax before the ceremony; it gave us much more time to spend with our family & friends at the cocktail hour and reception.
Rob -- I agree with Rachel that the First Look was one of my favorite moments, it definitely helped to set the mood for the day. If I had to choose another of my favorite moments, it would have to be when I got to see Rachel and her parents walking down the aisle to the front of the church. D -- What has been the best thing that has happened to you as a couple since your wedding last year?
R&R -- So much has happened in our lives this past year. We both took new jobs at work and we recently bought a house!!! We just love Boston and decided it's where we want to stay and raise our family. It is pretty amazing that we'll be moving into our first house this weekend, on our one year anniversary.D -- What have you learned about each other over this past year?
Rachel -- I'm amazed more and more each day at how patient Rob is. He is kind and extremely supportive. He is also a great cook :) I'm so lucky.
Rob -- That I made the best decision of my life when I asked Rachel to marry me. She completes my sentences, my thoughts, my life. She is such a loving and caring person. D -- Traveled anywhere fun?
R&R -- Yes! The evening after our wedding we left for a two week honeymoon in Turkey and Greece. In Istanbul we visited Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, shopped at the Grand Bazaar and Spice Market and even went to a hamam. Athens and the Greek Islands of Crete and Santorini were just breathtaking. It was truly the trip of a lifetime.
D -- Any tips you can offer newlyweds for their first year of marriage?
R&R -- Make sure that you continue to communicate, make decisions together, and most importantly laugh and enjoy each others company.
