With a wedding originally planned for early spring, a late fall celebration wasn’t exactly what Sarah & Andrew had in mind when they first started planning. But as spring 2020 came to fruition it was clear that Covid would not allow them to get married as they originally had planned.
Like most everyone thought at the time, the fall of 2020 seemed like a safe option, so Sarah and Andrew decided to move their date from May to November. As we all know now, things didn’t improve and by the time November came, the pandemic was raging throughout New England and the country.
Sarah and Andrew were determined however to move forward with their day and get married, whatever that looked like in these new circumstances. Retaining their professional team, they reworked their day, moved their date, moved venues, sized down and reworked nearly EVERYTHING about the day. They were persistent and determined and it paid off in every way. Sarah and Andrew were still able to celebrate with their best people and followed through on their commitment to each other.
Their day felt just like a “normal” wedding day – Sarah and Andrew got ready with their loved ones, they had a first look at golden hour, they hosted a ceremony with their closest loved ones and had a rowdy and fun party after dinner. While the logistics may have looked different, the love and celebration was palpable and a joy to capture.
2020 was hard year with few large scale events to capture. But the weddings and celebrations I did photograph felt different. There was a great appreciation to be gathered, no matter how small the group. With so much pain and heartache that came with 2020, being able to witness and capture these moments filled me with great pride and joy – and I am so very thankful I was there to capture every joyous moment on Sarah & Andrew’s day.
