On a beautiful spring evening I met with Jennifer and Nate on Boston's Harbor front just as the sun began to dip near the horizon. Jennifer and Nate met at Boston College and they wanted their engagement session to reflect their love for the city and the place they fell in love. The evening offered candy colored skies and sweeping views of the harbor. I loved having the opportunity to get to know Jennifer and Nate and I can't wait for their wedding this fall - enjoy a few of my favorite images!!Read More

On a blustry spring evening I met with Callie and Jimmy in the harbor town of Rockport, one of my favorite spots on the North Shore. On a typical summer evening Bearskin Neck is a bustling area with tourists and shops and restaurants. But on this early spring evening everything was quiet and we had much of the area to ourselves. The ocean was active with waves crashing against the breakwater making for a dramatic backdrop for Callie and Jimmy's session!!
Jimmy & Callie will be getting married on the Cape later this year and desired their engagement session to reflect a seaside feel. Rockport was the perfect setting!! Callie & Jimmy, I can't wait to celebrate with you two in just a few short months!!Read More
On an early January morning I met Alyssa & Younes in Copley Square for their engagement session. Since they live abroad, we had a small window of time when they would be visiting the states -- we crossed our fingers for a sunny day and we were met with a beautiful and seasonally *warm* weather.
Alyssa and Younes were a delight -- it was so much fun having the opportunity to get to know them both and witness the beautiful friendship they share together. Alyssa and Younes will wed in July in the Copley Square area so we had a wonderful time exploring this quintessential part of town. Enjoy some of my favorites from their lovely Copley Square engagement session!!

Today continues the the Best of 2016 series with my favorite engagement images from the past year. I kicked off 2016 with Sarah & Greg's epic Lake Winnipesaukee engagement session and ended the year with Kirsten & Paul's sunrise session at Crane Beach. From Boston to the North Shore, the city to the coast, 2016 was filled with beautiful places and amazing couples celebrating this precious time in life!!Read More
These two brave souls met me on a cold early fall morning for their engagement session at Crane Beach in Ipswich. Crane Beach is one of my favorite places on earth and it was joy to share this special spot with Kirsten & Paul!! We met just as the sun was rising above the horizon and were greeted by an empty beach -- the ocean was still, the sand was smooth, it was a peaceful start to a beautiful engagement session!! Enjoy some of my favorites!!
*I'm secretly-not-so-secretly THRILLED to incorporate several film frames into this blog post -- can you spot which images are film??! Developed and scanned by the Find Film Lab. Photographed with Canon EOS 1V 35mm on Portra 400Read More
Alli & Brendan met while studying at Boston College -- and while their studies and careers have taken the couple to different parts of the country, Boston College continues to be a special place for them. On a misty and early fall morning, we met on campus and explored this beautiful place.
As the rest of campus began preparing for an Eagles football game, Alli & Brendan reminisced. Remembering fondly how they met, the classes they took and where it all began. In between bursts of rain, we took advantage of the beautiful architecture, finding archways and nooks to sneak away to.
Alli & Brendan will celebrate the next chapter of their love story this spring in Newport. Until then they'll continue to pursue their dream careers and plan for their future. For a brief moment this fall their busy worlds aligned. Rain and all, Alli & Brendan were reminded of all that they are working towards : a life spent together.
Enjoy some of my favorite images from their day!!
If fall in New England is magical then fall in the South End is perfection. Earlier this month I spent a lovely crisp fall afternoon with Emily & Nick exploring their beloved South End. Known for it's boutique shops, amazing restaurants and charming brownstone apartments, the South End is filled with character, it was the perfect backdrop for their very Boston engagement session.
Just blocks from the hustle and bustle of downtown, the South End feels like a world away with a quiet neighborhood vibe. Emily and Nick just love this area of town and it was so fun walking through some of their favorite spots in the South End.
It was an absolutely BLAST hanging out with these two. Emily is never without her beautiful smile and Nick has the ability to make you feel like an old friend. Together they make a beautiful pair, not just in their hospitable spirit but in now they fit perfectly together.
Emily & Nick, thank you for treating me to such a fun afternoon with you!! Enjoy some of my favorite images from their beautiful South End engagement session!!Read More
It seems like Kerin and I have been trying to plan this engagement session forever. And each time it seemed like Mother Nature wanted to work against us. But not last week!! Despite a forecast for rain and thunderstorms, Boston graced us with the most beautiful of evenings, perfect for Kerin & Ryan's engagement session at Castle Island. When we arrived we almost couldn't believe that the session was going to actually happen!!
And what a great evening we had! As the sun began to dip into the horizon, we walked through the park, enjoyed the view of Boston Harbor and cooled off with a lovely ocean breeze. Even better, I got to spend quality time with this lovely couple, the epitome of laid back, confident and charismatic. Kerin & Ryan will be trying the knot in Newport later this fall and I just know their wedding will be an epic celebration!!
Enjoy this darling engagement session at Castle Island!!
Elissa & Scott just moved back to the Boston area after living in the south for the past few years. It's been a transition Elissa has looked for to for some time (hello four seasons!!) so when it came time to plan their engagement session, she knew the perfect spot : her Mom's backyard!! The location is sentimental to Elissa but also represents the start of their new life here in New England. Scott & Elissa brought music and a bottle of champagne to celebrate and I loved how personal and relaxed their session felt -- the perfect fit for this easygoing couple!!
Elissa & Scott are a photographer's dream, they completely trusted me to capture their relationship and gave me a chance to experiment and try things I don't normally do (like making my couple run through a field a million times :-P) just to get a different kind of image.
Elissa & Scott will be getting married next summer at Moraine Farm on Boston's North Shore and I couldn't be more excited to capture their gorgeous wedding!! Enjoy their rustic & charming New England engagement session (and don't miss Elissa's GORGEOUS ring!!)Read More
I just love these two brave souls who got up before the sun for their early morning engagement session in the Public Gardens. Living in the Boston area they wanted their engagement session to be a reflection of quintessential Boston. But anyone who knows Boston knows that this part of town is filled with tourists and locals alike later into the day. So how do you go about making the Public Gardens look empty? Begin your session at 6am ;).
I love Erica & Mark's go with the flow attitude -- they are a confident couple who are comfortable in their own skin and have a deep connection to each other. Best friends. What a joy to photograph!!
Later this year they will be tying the knot in a quintessential Bostonian wedding at the Fairmont Copley Plaza (sensing a theme here?) I cannot wait to photograph this sweet couple again in a place that is near and dear to their hearts!!Read More
I couldn't have been more excited to receive an email from Matt & Erika following their recent engagement this past spring. I've known Matt now for several years having had the opportunity to photograph his sister's wedding in 2012 and his brother's wedding last fall. Being able to be a part of the Tice family's life events has been a highlight as a photographer and so I was delighted to be asked by Erika & Matt to photograph their engagement!!
Matt & Erika picked the North End, where they live, as the backdrop for their engagement session. I arrived to their adorable apartment where they relaxed with champagne and cannolis, a North End staple. After enjoying some sweets, we meandered through the North End's maze of streets visiting some of Matt & Erika's favorite spots in this quaint and famous Boston neighborhood. They even managed to gobble down some slices of gooey pizza on a side alley street. If that doesn't scream North End I don't know what does!!Read More
Amanda grew up in Groton and loved exploring the old farm fields upon Gibbet Hill. It was the perfect location for their engagement session where Chris, Amanda and Marley could escape outdoors, stretch their legs and enjoy an afternoon together. Gibbet Hill is quintessentially New England with cow fields spanning the hillside and a sweeping view of the valley below. Plus there's an old "castle" foundation at the top of the hill, it's no wonder that Chris & Amanda love this place so!!Read More
We started Phoebe & Kevin's session in their beautiful home followed by a walk through their neighborhood. Conversations on the front stoop, families at the playground, pups walking with their owners, it hardly felt like you were in the middle of the city. It's a small oasis in a bustling part of town, a quaint and inviting place -- it's clear why Phoebe & Kevin love it so.Read More
Grace & Sam are both graduate students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. They met in school and campus has become an incredibly important and sentimental place in their relationship. Of course it had to become a part of their engagement session so we spent an afternoon together wandering the city campus and exploring it's historic buildings. In fact, MIT had just celebrated their 100th anniversary of their Cambridge campus before the session - historic indeed!
Grace is an aero student (which I love as my own hubby Dave graduated from the MIT aero program) and Sam is a mathematician. Together these two make one incredibly smart couple! But beyond their skill in academics Grace and Sam are kind and generous, a couple who is dearly loved by their friends. As we walked the MIT campus for their engagement session, Grace and Sam were stopped numerous times with congratulatory hugs and excitement!!
Grace and Sam are doing things a little differently than most couples. While their engagement will have only been a few months when they tie the knot this June, it's clear that Grace and Sam are meant to be. From the way that Sam cares for Grace to the way Grace melts into Sam's arm -- Sam and Grace are the real deal.
Thank you Grace and Sam for showing me around campus, enjoy your images!!
Kate is a city girl through and through and I just love that about her, a girl after my own heart!! When chatting about where she and Don would like to have their engagement session, it was no question : Boston would be it!! Kate lives in the heart of downtown -- complete with sweeping views of Boston Harbor and State House, a city girl's dream. Don and Kate have a deep love for this city and this December will say their vows in the shadow of Boston's skyline.
One of Don and Kate's favorite date night activities is walking from her apartment downtown to the charming neighborhood of the North End for a slice of pizza or a cannoli. (That sounds like a perfect date night to me!) For their engagement session we did exactly that, stopping along the way to take in the city sights and enjoy a treat.
The North End is one of my favorite places in Boston. I love the history -- one of the few remaining cobble stone streets is here -- and the charm of the numerous restaurants and bakeries that fill this neighborhood. I was pleased as punch to sneak away from the crowds and introduce Don & Kate to my fave little bakery, Bova's, tucked away off of Hanover!!
Don and Kate are sweethearts, the kind of couple who welcomes you in and makes you feel like an old friend. Kate's smile can light up a room and Don is always quick to make sure that Kate feels loved, with that famous Kate smile on her face. (Just see below!) I can't wait for their wedding later this year and I am so excited to introduce them to you today!! Enjoy their sweet North End Engagement Session!!
When I learned that Greg's family home on Lake Winnipesaukee is where they spend most of their free time, where they escape to just breath - I knew that was where we had to have their engagement session. On a COLD and RAINY April morning I drove up into the mountains and met Greg and Sarah who were ending a long weekend away on the lake. There was a quietness, a peaceful energy to their private oasis on the lake and it was magical.Read More
Today kicks off one of my favorite weeks all year for the blog : The Best of 2015!! Every year I like to take a week to recap the year that was, resharing some of the amazing places and people we had the joy of photographing this past season. It's always a beautiful reminder for me of just how lucky I am to do what I love and how fortunate I am work with kindest, most caring and over all amazing people...EVER.Read More
Nothing is more fun than having the opportunity to photograph the siblings or family members of past DZP couples. Like Lauren, whose brother RJ is a past DZP groom. I first met Lauren and Marshall on RJ & Meredith's wedding day this past June when I had no voice (read : my voice was competely gone due to the flu), so imagine how fun it was to meet them at their engagement session with a full voice!! I loved spending the morning with this adorable duo, who first met in Boston, began a flirtation over Bruins vs Canadians hockey and have been insperable every since. Fittingly they wanted their engagement session to reflect their love for the city that started it all for them.Read More
Sometimes it's funny how life works out. Matt and Erica grew up together, almost a mile away from each other, they've known each other since Kindergarten. And now today, they are planning their wedding!! Who knew that these childhood buddies would grow up, fall in love and begin a new stage of life together?!
While they grew up on the North Shore, today they call Boston home. Working and living in the city, they both love the vibrant pace of city life and fittingtly they wanted a piece of that captured in their engagement session. We picked the Fort Point neighborhood which offers amazing views of Boston's skyline and the urban atmosphere that Matt & Erica love. On a brisk fall afternoon we explored their favorite part of the city, capturing their relationship in a place that holds such an important place in their heart.
Erica and Matthew, I cannot wait to celebrate with you next summer!! It was so wonderful getting to know you both better as we explored Fort Point and chatted about life!! I hope you enjoy these images!!
Jim & Taryn love good food, good drinks, good company and the hustle and bustle of city life. Fittingly they chose the vibrant neighborhood of Fort Point for their engagement session, a place that seems to pulse with the heartbeat of the city. In the shadow of Boston's skyline, Fort Point epitomizes everything they love about Boston and is a place that they feel at home in. Getting married next fall, we planned their engagement session almost a year to the date to their wedding day. It was fun walking the city streets thinking that a year from now they will be celebrating together with their closest family and friends at a beautiful winery.
Being the wine lovers that they are, Jim & Taryn had really wanted to incoporate some of their favorite South Boston haunts into their engagement session. Unfortunately establishments were less than excited about the prospect (bummer right?!) They decided to grab a few drinks before the start of the session at Trade and casually mentioned they were waiting for their session to begin. The bartender immediately suggested that they have part of their session in the beautiful bar area and of course Jim & Taryn loved the idea!! It was such a beautiful gesture and made for a great start to their Boston engagement session!! Thank you Trade!! (And thank you Jim & Taryn for being such amazing clients, go with the flow attitudes and kind spirits, here's to you!!)
