A Chatham Bars Inn Wedding Album

With temperatures in the 30s yesterday morning (!!!) summer seems far, far away. But not to worry, I have a little dose of summer love for you today!! Over the past several months I have had the pleasure of helping create a wedding album for Jayme & Cory, who you may remember from their beautiful Chatham Bars Inn wedding this past June. It was a day full of celebration, friends & family along with the prettiest of nautical details and Cape Cod Charm, and their album reflects just that.

Jayme and Cory chose the Signature Album and one of the things that I love about this particular album is the ability to create completely unique designs for each couple. No two albums are alike and each design is created specifically for a couple's unique story. Cory & Jayme picked a lovely blue leather for their cover which complimented their nautical theme perfectly, it's like a summer ocean breeze!!

I'm practically giddy over this announcement, it's been a project I have been working on for what feels like years!! I've been searching for a place for my fine art and travel photography to live. I'm over the moon excited to share this morning that the gallery is now LIVE!! You can find all the pretty here with more coming soon!!

As many of you know my love for photography started at an early age when I was given a film camera. When I was 13 my family traveled abroad and that trip solidified my love for all things photography and travel. Evern since, I have strived to recreate the feeling of legacy, history and charm I fell in love with while traveling, in my own photography.

Throughout my travels I have gathered a series of images from the many places I have discovered. And now, with great joy, I'm sharing a curated collection of my most favorite places, people and things.

The first two Collections features favorite destinations, Hawaii & Charleston, with more coming soon!! These beautiful prints are printed on archival quality, museum grade Hahnemuhle Photo Rag and are ready to frame, the perfect addition to your home or office! Don't see an image you love? The Heirloom Album

I'm delighted to announce new offerings for the Deborah Zoe Photography Collection in 2016!! As you know I'm passionate about collaborating with my couples create tangible heirlooms following the wedding. Your images are not created to live on a computer but to be printed and enjoyed in your home, shared with those that you love.

Over the past year I have been searching for album offerings that would be a compliment to the albums I currently offer. I wanted something that had a touch of traditional charm but kept with modern times. And most importantly I wanted to find an heirloom offering that was made of hand crafted artisanal quality. These albums are created to become family heirlooms, shared and passed down to the generations to come. Knowing that a couple will share their album with their grandchildren one day and having that album become a part of a family's history is something I am incredibly passoinate about!!

It is with such joy that I introduce the Heirloom Album, Heirloom Folio & Signature album!! Over the coming weeks I will be showing you an in depth look at each of these albums, sharing how they are uniquely special and why they would be the perfect compliment for your wedding images!! You may remember Yunji & Isaac from their darling wedding this past spring at the Topsfield Commons. Recently we finished their design and this gorgeous album now lives at their home, a perfect way to share their beautiful day with loved ones!!

Yunji & Isaac chose the Signature Album for their book, a 10x10 hand crafted album featuring a leather or linen cover. Yunji & Isaac especially loved the look of leather for their album. It's that time of year where my office sees many albums come and go:) The summer months have passed, clients have finalized their designs and albums are making their way to their permanent homes. Its really fun to receive an album for inspection here at the office. It's a treat to relive these special days and to see how each couple's story has been preserved in an album. What an amazing process to be a part of, to watch as images move from just images in a gallery to a carefully and artistically curated album that will be shared for years to come!

You know by now that I'm incredibly passionate about preserving the images of my clients in albums, so being able to share that with you is just lovely! My blog is a great resource, especially for those planning their albums. I love that I have a platform to be able to share with you real client albums, to give you a feel for just how beautiful these heirlooms are. I was recently asked by a new client, what makes these albums so special? What sets them apart? Of course there's the archival quality and sleek design. But really, what it comes down to, is a passion for preserving images in a beautifully bound, hand crafted album. You can't say that about every album company, and that's why I choose to work with the best:)!

I'm sure by now you are quite familiar with how important I believe weddings albums are. One of my favorite stories comes from a past client who had ordered their album several years after their wedding day. The day it was delivered they were sent into the hospital to welcome their first baby. After a safe delivery they sent me a picture that I will cherish always. There they were sharing their wedding album in the hospital with their newborn son. Truly, a wedding album is more than just a collection of images arranged on a page. An album is a family heirloom, a way to share with generations to come just how it all began : with love.

Speaking of albums, Emma and Paul were so excited to start the process, Emma couldn't wait for the finished product to enjoy with family and friends. Together we collaborated to create a custom design, a true reflection of their day. In the end, the album came together as a perfect representation of their spring wedding in Boston, right down to Emma's choice of grey leather!!

As you probably already know I feel passionate about Wedding Albums and allowing couples to have tangible memories from their wedding day. I am passionate about taking wedding images and presenting them in such a way that preserves and celebrates the wedding for generations to come. And though we live in a digital world where things are increasingly done and "enjoyed" online, there is something truly magical about holding your wedding album in your hands. There is just something about taking singular images and putting them together as a story. Oh you bet I could go on and on!

Today I wanted to share some of my favorite spreads from albums (recent and past). Almost from the beginning I have turned over the designing of wedding albums to a professional. I'm a wedding photographer, not a designer, and I wanted to make sure that I was giving each album the attention and care that it needed. That meant hiring a professional designer to artfully and personally create custom designs for each couple. I couldn't be happier with my designer, Erica from the Summer House. She is the perfect fit and creates beautiful and incredible designs with my images for my clients!

It seems like I've been sharing a lot of album posts lately! The end of the year saw MANY albums orders going out which mean't lots of albums coming in. I absolutely LOVE sending albums off to clients. While wrapping some up for delivery this past December, I took the opportunity to snap a few images of the beautiful albums.

Up next, is Sarah and Eddie's quant seaside affair at the York Golf and Tennis Club. This is Standard Wedding Album.I love how tiny the gutter is on these albums allowing the album to lay completely flat, now matter what page, when opened. I recently got a few samples in of Engagement Albums from my amazing album company Madera Books. These were created with the Linen Album, a lay flat album bound with a beautiful linen cover. Each album has the couple's name imprinted on the front and is designed to be used as a guestbook with space for guests to leave messages to the couple!

I love the simple elegance of these albums. There are no frills, just a beautifully crafted album that tells the story of each couple. It's a sweet way to remember your engagement period and a lovely display piece for your home! I believe strongly that images are not meant to live on a computer or a drive, but rather to be enjoyed and loved in a tangible and meaningful way. These engagement albums are the perfect way to do just that!

A Regatta Place Wedding

Thanks to my mom (who is helping me out with the little man this week!) I'm able to blog this lovely little album that made it's way to my office a few weeks back. I chose Dave and Lindsey's Regatta Place wedding for my newest sample album and well, I'm in love!! Once again my album company, Madera, created a beautifully bound album. There is just something so classic and elegant about a simple black leather album. I simply adore working with Madera and I'm always so excited to be able to present their gorgeous albums to my clients!

A York Maine Wedding

Good morning friends!! Today I have a lovely summer wedding album to share!! Jason and Amanda came to me a few months ago wishing to create a wedding album. She had read several of my posts on why I absolutely LOVE albums and decided that was exactly what they needed to help remember their special day!!

They went big (go big or go home right?!) and selected the Deluxe Album which includes 40 pages, an upgraded cover with an image and imprinting all bound together with lovely soft leather!! I thought I'd share their album in it's entirety so that you can see exactly what "fits" into a 40 page album. And though there is nothing to give scale to the album here, it's a 12x12 inch square which opens up to a 12x20 rectangle... it's big and guys this thing is HEAVY!! What a beautiful way to remember your wedding day!!

My Favorite Wedding Album Spreads

As you know by now I absolutely love creating wedding albums for my clients! I love giving my clients tangible memories from their wedding day! But before we can even get to that step the album has to be designed! Early on I tried, quite pathetically to design albums for my clients. They were crude, unprofessional and just plain ugly. I had no idea what I was doing and yet here I was trying to pretend that I did!! After a few months of trying it on my own I knew that the only way possible to get my clients the best albums possible was to work with a designer.

I started out working with several different designers until I found one that just clicked with me! Enter Erica of Summer House. Erica just gets me, my style and the needs of my clients. She has this brilliant ability to take my images and piece them together to create beautiful album spreads! Looking back I just wish that we had connected sooner!! As a photographer it is so important for me to be thinking ahead to the album design while I'm actually shooting the wedding. I want to give my designer AND client variety in their images as well as images that are cohesive. So often I am taking images of the same pose from different angles and different view points. The same thought applies to the details. As you'll see below that variety helps to create a more dynamic album design!

It's also important to remember that less is more. Just because you might be able to cram hundreds of images into a wedding album doesn't mean that you should. There should be a delicate balance between simplicity and the design. While some spreads might call for multiple images another might lend itself well to just one. A couple should be able to open their wedding album years from now and be taken right back to their wedding day. And not distracted by poor design.

ARE YOU READY??!!! Snowmaggedon aka NEMO (who names a storm NEMO??) is here! Apparently there is a no driving ban throughout the entire state of Massachusetts starting at 4pm! Hard to believe that we could possibly get two feet of snow in the next 24 hours!! We're loaded up and ready to go with bacon, ice cream and milk. All the necessary items needed for a blizzard of course :-P. How are you holding up?

Well if you're stuck inside and need some pretty eye candy to devour and pass the time then you're in luck!! Today I'm sharing Megan and Kenny's beautiful wedding album with you!! Is there anything more classic than a black, leather bound, flush mount wedding album? I just about squealed when this thing landed on my doorstep and I couldn't wait to get it back out my door to my adorable couple!

So it back and enjoy their beautiful spring wedding!! And revel in the snowless, GREEN, backdrop. Only a few more months right?!

A Love Affair With Wedding Albums

By now you should all know about my love affair with my album company Madera Books! I started working with them about two years ago and have been hooked ever since. The buttery leather covers, the clean simple lines, the beautiful craftmanship, these albums are just beautiful to look at!! It was a match made in Wedding Album heaven!

So when I received this new album in the mail I was elated...because this album is LARGE AND IN CHARGE!! It's the 12x12 Deluxe Album and features over 40 pages of beautiful images! (By the time this shoot was done my arms were jello;)). I thought by modeling the album you'd get a better sense of just how big this baby is! Oh I just can't get enough!Remember this adorable couple? Who could forget their amazing New Hampshire farm wedding?!When you open the book, you are welcomed to 24 inches of wedding day goodness. An impressive way to display your images and share your wedding day!I know I've said it before, but wedding albums are important. Images are never meant to stay online or in a hard drive. Elegantly displayed in an album, your images suddenly come alive telling the story of your wedding day. Albums are an investment in preserving your wedding day for years to come! Again, the pages lay flat so you're not distracted by any unruly pages or large gutter. All you see is big, beautiful images!I love how clean and beautiful full panoramic spreads look!Whether closed or open, this album is impressive from all angles!I truly didn't think I could love my album company more.... but then... then they launched a new website chock full of new content including this amazing video! I've mentioned it before, but I believe it deserves to be repeated again and again. Wedding albums are important. In a world that values the NOW instead of the past, present and future, it seems like wedding albums are becoming less and less important to couples getting married. Once they have their images they store them away, sometimes never even printing them. These images are never experienced, never shared. They stay on a cd or harddrive and that is where they live. In short, these images are never ENJOYED. But as your wedding photographer that is NOT what I have in mind as I document your love story.

I envision a beautifully bound wedding album engraved with your names and your favorite picture. I envision you anxiously awaiting that precious package, your wedding album, to be delivered to your doorstep. I see you rushing to meet the mailman and ripping open that box to then patiently eagerly awaiting for your husband to get home. I see each of you sitting at your couch, glass of wine in hand, ready to experience your wedding day again, together. I see you as you meticulously examine each page, laughing at each memory and reconnecting with each other. I envision you sharing your album with your children, your family, your friends. I envision you sharing your legacy of love.

As I document your love story, I envision what your wedding album will mean you.

Abby and Devin's wedding album arrived last week. And as I flipped through it's pages, I was reminded WHY I feel so passionately about wedding albums. I was reminded that THEY ARE IMPORTANT. And it's not just because of their beautiful craftsmanship, their quality, or their design. Because to me, and to you, it's more than just images on a page. It's an experience, it's a memory, it's an heirloom. Your wedding album is something to be shared, to be enjoyed and to be treasured. Every time you open the pages of your album, you are transported back to that day, your guests. Every time you open the pages of your album you relive your first dance, the toasts and exactly how you felt that day.

Isn't that worth the time, the effort and the investment? You bet.
