A Retreat For Photographers

Every year I've made a commitment to myself and my business to attend at least one conference or retreat as a way to grow in my craft and knowledge as photographer & business owner. My first ever confernce was WPPI, an eye opening experience in the heart of Las Vegas. WPPI is huge (literally), with thousands of photographers, speakers and sponsers attending every year. It's a great way to get your feet wet so to speak in the photography world and I've met some of my dearest industry friends in Vegas. But being the introverted type that I am, these huge group settings made me feel so uncomfortable and longing for a small, intimate community to connect with. With that in mind the Inspire Photo Retreats was created.

Last Monday began the start of the 7th Inspire Photo Retreat hosted at the beautiful Hyatt Regency in Newport, Rhode Island. Beginning with a snow storm, Monday marked three days of learning and inspiration. What started as a small idea has morphed into something so special. Enna, Mark & Eric have created a place that lives out community, a place where photographers in all stages of their business and craft can learn together as equal peers. One of my favorite things about this retreat is that the attendees and speakers takes classes together, eat together and do community together. It's so rare in this industry to be surrounded by peer to peer learning and it's one of the things that makes this Retreat so unique.

This retreat has influenced my business and craft in so many tangible and meanigful ways,  for that I couldn't be more thankful. I'm full of all the feels (if you haven't guessed, you will most likely cry at Inspire ;)), so I'll leave you with this amazing video recapping our retreat last week. Thank you to the amazing documentary team, Stephen Wang Photography and Epic Filmmakers for being their for it all, check out the highlight video, you might even see a cameo by yours truly ;).
