Our Trip To Napa: The ShootThisNotThat Workshop Details

Category

As you can see from yesterday’s post, Summer knows what she is doing. She put together such a wonderful event and it was a complete joy to be able to learn from her. Gorgeous couple, gorgeous location, gorgeous details. You really couldn’t have asked for more.
Yesterday you saw the dress, the shoes, the flowers. But what you didn’t see was behind the scenes of workshop. The little details that went into making this event so great.  It’s little things that make all the difference and Summer went above and beyond during our short time in Napa.

On Monday after a long day of touring the valley, I was ready to relax before meeting with the rest of the attendees at our hotel. When we returned, scattered throughout our room were welcome presents from Summer: A bottle of wine, a book, some candy, and more. I excitedly collected my little treasures together and photographed them on our balcony.

After a meet and greet at the hotel, we were then treated to dinner at Oenotri, an awesome Italian eatery in downtown Napa. Great wine, great food, great conversation. Even the owner was excited that a group of photographers was dining at his restaurant, so he invited anyone with a camera to the kitchen to document them making pizza. I opted to drink more wine;)

The next day we had our classroom time at The Collection Event Studio in Sonoma.  Sonoma is heaven on Earth, it is absolutely beautiful. And the girls at The Collection are amazing and simply wonderful. We had the best time meeting at their studio and getting to know them. Their studio is a detail dream, filled with all sorts of unique odds and ends. We were like kids in a candy shop. For real. And in case you were wondering, The Collection Event Studio is a design studio featuring some of the best wedding vendors in the valley. If you’re looking to get married in wine country, look no further.

Even the water matched the theme of the workshop!

Summer provided us with pencils and a notebook to take lots and lots and LOTS of notes:)

And this is Scott Andrew, a Napa wedding photographer who documented the behind the scenes action at the workshop and who was also on hand to answer questions and help the photographers out with technical stuff. Thanks Scott! (And of course my new friends Lori, working her magic with our models to the left and and Marin Kristine getting an action shot on the right:)) Not to forget Claire, Callie and Kelly of Kelly Hornberger Photography and Kristen!

On the last day of the workshop we had brunch at a French restaurant in downtown Napa, Angele. I ordered sweetbread, because in all uncultured honesty, I thought it was bread that was sweet. BUT, even after finding out what sweetbread was, I have to say, it was still delicious. Even our table had been decked out in all sorts of petite floral arrangements by Viola Floral Design. Wow, what a way to end the workshop!

Summer thank you again for the most amazing experience. I cannot wait to take all that I learned and put it into practice in my business. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thanks to all my new friends, you guys helped make the experience really special! 🙂
