At Home Family Session

There are many things that I love about our home, one of them being the amount of natural light our house receives throughout the day. Sitting up on a hill with very few trees, our house receives sunlight all day long. It's as glorious as it sounds, bright and cheery! It also means that it's the perfect location for photography. The big windows and the natural light means that most rooms provide adequate and even light, perfect for shooting conditions.

When we first bought our home I wanted it to be a place that was open and inviting. We had this beautiful home and we didn't want to keep it all to ourselves; how could we bless others with it? At first I only thought of inviting folks over for coffee or cooking delicious dinners for friends. It never really occurred to me that I might be able to combine my love of photography with our home in ways that might bless others. And yet almost three years after purchasing this home we've hosted a workshop and multiple portrait sessions along with welcoming clients for meet and greets. Isn't it amazing to see things unfold in ways you never expected?

Which leads me to today's post. Dave and I have had the privledge of knowing Phil & Lauren for several years now. In fact Lauren was one of the first people I told I was pregnant :). It's been a joy to walk alongside Phil & Lauren as they became parents and it was so fun to be with them when they announced they were expecting. Now here we are months (years?) later and they have a little BUBBLY, bouncy boy of their own. We had the joy of hosting them in our home and photographing their newest addition and, as you might have guessed, it was a whole lot of fun!!

Because our master bedroom receieves the most natural light in the house we transform that space into a studio of sorts. We spent a chilly New Years morning photographing their sweet and I made sure that there were lots of snuggles to be had...tough with a little guys as mobile as Sam!! So grab your favorite winter beverage (make it a huge mug of peppermint mocha for the girl who is currently on Whole30) and enjoy all the cuteness from Phil & Lauren's family session!!
